The Kennett Community Action Group approached Council in April this year following a young girl narrowly avoiding being hit, due to line-of-sight issues and major traffic congestion within the small precinct.

This is the start of a progressive, community-led journey to preserve and restore the important riparian zone of our river.

The focus is on weed removal and revegetation of the riverbank to increase biodiversity, improve native habitat and help minimise the impacts of visitors to local wildlife.

In collaboration with local community members and GORCAPA, the Southern Otway Landcare Network (SOLN) was successful in applying for a grant to remove Sweet Pittosporum at Point Hawdon, Kennett River.

The Kennett Community Action Group has collaborated with Wye to Wongarra Landcare Group and GORCAPA in an ongoing sea spurge awareness and participation campaign.

Great Ocean Road Coastal Trail Update

Notification has been received from the Great Ocean Road Coastal Trail project team about the scope of works being delivered at Kennett River going forward.

In our continued commitment to protect our wildlife from harassment and interference, the first step is to raise awareness, so we can influence change.

Locals have been working with Colac Otway Shire and Southern Otway Landcare Network to reclaim and regenerate a key area impacted by tourism.
