The Triangle Makeover + Revegetation Project

To leverage the momentum occurring in Kennett River with regards to the Parks Victoria mandate for responsible tourism, locals have engaged with the Colac Otway Shire (COS) and Southern Otway Landcare Network (SOLN) to tackle the issues of land degradation, wildlife interference, trespassing onto private land and bird feeding head on.

The makeover and replanting of the ‘triangle’ as referred to by locals, on the corner of Hawdon Ave and Grey River Road aims to ensure special places are preserved and protected for future generations to enjoy by;

  • Making an unkept area beautiful

  • Providing opportunities for locals to participate and take ownership of this extraordinary place through grass roots initiatives

  • Improving the quiet enjoyment and loss of privacy for residents dealing with hundreds of visitors every day

  • Creating a necessary protection zone, more appropriate for wildlife being viewed with daily frequency

The appropriate choice of indigenous vegetation will allow birds to forage naturally, which aims to further reduce the need to feed them, for a photo.

Impacted locals are proactively setting an example of what innovative solutions are possible, to protect where we live and love.
